
A 40-year-old man who was drunk at the Trasna House health facility in Lurgan threatened staff that if police were called he would stab them in the neck.
Craigavon Magistrates’ Court heard that James Russell, of Sloan Street in Lurgan, gestured in a stabbing motion towards his neck which put staff in fear of violence.
On the same morning – September 24 last year – the defendant phoned police on the 999 number to say he was “going to kill a load of people”.
When taken to Craigavon Area Hospital he shouted foul language in relation to “judges and PSNI”.
A defence lawyer said the defendant had “mental health problems”.
The defendant was given a five months custodial sentence on charges of two assaults, disorderly behaviour and improper use of a communications network.
