Man (23) critical after second Lurgan stabbing over Easter holidays

There is widespread shock at another stabbing in the Lurgan area over the Easter holidays.

The latest stabbing incident happened in the Shankill area.

It is understood a 23-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital.

It comes just days after a 15-year-old girl was stabbed in the neck in the Deans Walk area of the town.

A 14-year-old girl has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

SDLP MLA Dolores Kelly said residents are “very shocked at yet another stabbing incident”.

“A 23-year-old male is in a critical condition,” she said.

Ms Kelly raised concerns of knife crime.

Lurgan Sinn Fein councillor Liam Mackle says he’s in deep shock at yet another stabbing.

“The Lurgan community woke up this morning to the shocking news of a second stabbing in Lurgan over the Easter holidays.

“Knife crime has the potential to kill or cause serious injury as we have so tragically witnessed in recent days.

“We must redouble our efforts to remove knives from our streets.

“Anyone with information about the latest incident should bring it to the police.”
