Man fighting for his life in hospital after altercation outside Lurgan bar

A man in his 50s is in a life-threatening condition following a serious altercation outside licensed premises in Lurgan in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Detectives said the incident occurred at around 12.55am on Sunday, October 19, in the William Street area of the town.

Detective Inspector Handley explained: “Police received a report concerning a man aged in his 50s, who had sustained a serious head injury.

“The man had been attempting to re-enter licensed premises when he became aggressive towards two members of door staff.

“It’s understood the door staff pushed the man back, who then fell and struck his head on the ground.

“They provided medical treatment to the man who was then taken onward to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.”

Police say enquiries are continuing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, CCTV, or mobile footage to come forward.
