Police have confirmed they have charged a man with a number of offences including possession of a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause fear.
The 52-year-old was also charged with assault and assault on police following an incident in the Aghagallon area last Tuesday, July 14.
The man subsequently appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 16.
UUP MLA Doug Beattie said the images circulating on social media around the alleged incident “are extremely worrying”.
“I would just like to take a moment to heap praise on the police officers who were in that area who tackled this individual,” he added.
“[They] showed incredible bravery and restraint and sometimes we forget just what our police service has to deal with. I thank them for keeping us safe yet again.”
