Lurgan mum who previously spoke out on dangers of Melanoma losses her own brave battle

Laura Gracey

A young Co. Armagh woman who just last April spoke out on the dangers of Melanoma having being diagnosed with the “vicious disease” for a second time has lost her own brave battle.

Laura Gracey, from Lurgan, was the beloved mother of Eóin and Daniel and dearly loved fiancée of Diármuid, a loving daughter of Michael and Margaret Gracey, dear sister of Claire and Mary and a much-loved auntie of Mia, Kody and Ella and sister-in-law to Conor and Fra.

The 32-year-old passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday.

Speaking to Armagh I last May, having being diagnosed with cancer for the second time in 12 months, Laura wanted to highlight the dangers of the disease.

“People are just so uneducated, I myself was until it happened to me, so know I am asking for people to learn from me,” she said at the time.

“I am not someone who used sunbeds, I am not one for lying out in the sun, don’t get me wrong if I was on holidays I got burnt but that wasn’t really me, I was no sun worshipper.”

Requiem Mass will take place in St Patrick’s and Ronan’s Church, Magheralin on Sunday where numbers attending will be restricted to family members.

“St Padre Pio pray for her”.

Always loved and remembered by her family and entire family circle.
