Lurgan man told policewoman he would ‘rape’ her

A court heard a Lurgan man told a police officer he “was going to rape her”.

Caolan O’Neill, of Belvedere Manor, made the comment when cautioned after being arrested following an incident when he had thrown a guitar at a police officer causing a shin injury after 1.15am on May 31 this year.

When being led to a police vehicle the 20-year-old was shouting and swearing in the street.

He appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court, via video link from Hydebank prison, and admitted charges of disorderly behaviour, assaulting a police officer and resisting another officer.

He was given a two months prison term.
