A Lurgan man who had been accused of endangering a helicopter by shining a laser beam has had the charges he faced withdrawn by prosecutors.
Ioan Julean (20), of Rectory Road, Lurgan, had been charged in relation to August 18 this year.
The defendant had faced three charges – endangering the safety of an aircraft; shining a laser beam at a helicopter when the ‘the laser dazzled or distracted, or was likely to dazzle or distract, a person with control of the vehicle’; and directing a light at an aircraft in flight ‘so as to dazzle or distract the pilot of an aircraft’.
The case was mentioned at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday where no further details were outlined.
