A Lurgan woman has retired after an extraordinary 53 years of service within the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.

Ann Hamill, from the Queen Street area of the town, has been hailed for a lifetime of dedication to patients, families and the wider community, particularly in Lurgan, where she is well known and widely respected.

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart paid tribute to Ann following a visit shortly after her final day of service, describing her contribution to local healthcare as “nothing short of remarkable”.

“Ann has devoted her life to helping others. For over five decades, she has provided care and support to thousands of people with compassion, kindness and unwavering commitment,” said Mrs Lockhart.

“She is someone who never saw her work as simply a job, but as a true calling. That level of dedication is rare, and it is deeply appreciated by all those whose lives she has touched over the years.

“Ann is also a neighbour to my offices and someone who is very well known and loved within the local community. It was a real pleasure to visit her and personally thank her for her outstanding service.”

The MP also extended her best wishes to Ann following a recent minor back injury.

“Ann has recently suffered a minor back injury, and I want to wish her a full and speedy recovery as she begins this new chapter.

“Ann leaves behind a legacy that she can be incredibly proud of. On behalf of the entire community, I want to thank her most sincerely for everything she has given over the past 53 years.”
