A Lurgan-based company is planning for the future with hopes for multi-million pound extension on site.
Radius Plastics Ltd want to extend their existing factory over more than a third.
And an application for the works has now been lodged with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for consideration.
The company – which was founded in 1969 – has its headquarters in Derbyshire, but boasts a significant factory base at the Halfpenny Valley Industrial Estate, on the Portadown Road in Lurgan
The company intends to extend the existing factory and storage facilities.
It would see the floorspace increase by over 40,000 sq ft – from almost 142,000 sq ft to in excess of 186,000 sq ft.
According to the application to council, some of the increase will be for production, but the majority is storage-related.
The proposals, if approved, would see an additional six staff on site daily, bringing the total workforce from 94 to 100.
According to Radius Plastics Ltd’s website: “Since 1969 we have developed and manufactured innovative plastic pipeline solutions for the gas industry and these solutions are now commonly used in the water, wastewater, energy and power, district heating and telecoms sectors.”
And it adds: “We work closely with our customers to develop tailored solutions to meet the demanding needs of today’s construction and utility industries, with safety and quality at the top of our priorities to deliver products for today and tomorrow’s pipeline challenges.”
The application is now with planning officials and will be publicly advertised shortly.
