Twenty-eight strong swimmers are set to represent Lurgan Amateur Swim Club (LASC) on the national stage this week!
The ‘fin-tastic’ swimmers, ranging from ages 12-18 have worked incredibly hard over the last year competing for qualifying times which will see them race in the 2026 Irish Summer National Championships in Limerick and Dublin!
The LASC swimmers will be participating in races this week in Dublin for the 2026 Irish Summer National Youth & Senior Championships (50m), running from today (July 21) until Saturday (July 25).
The competition brings together Ireland’s top youth and senior swimmers for one of the biggest events on the national calendar.
Committee member Eileen McGivern said: “This is a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of the dedication, commitment, and hard work our swimmers have shown all season. From early morning training sessions to countless hours in the pool, every swimmer has earned their place among the very best in Ireland.
“Congratulations to every swimmer on this incredible milestone. We also want to thank our coaches, parents, and families for their unwavering support throughout the season—this achievement wouldn’t be possible without you.”
The team of talented swimmers received a visit from The Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council , Councillor Mary O’Dowd, on Sunday morning who wished the swimmers the very best of luck ahead of their competitions.
“We couldn’t be prouder of this amazing group of swimmers and can’t wait to see them represent LASC on the national stage.”
