The girlfriend of a young Lurgan man who died suddenly on New Year’s Day says she is “heartbroken”.

Conor McGeough, of Collingwood Drive, passed away earlier today, sending shockwaves through the north Armagh community.

A teaching assistant at Conor’s former school, Lismore Comprehensive in Craigavon, wrote: “I was the classroom assistant in Conor’s class during his time in Lismore and have many fond memories of him. Thinking of Conor’s family, girlfriend and friends at this very heartbreaking time.”

Another commented: “Rest in Peace Conor, loved the craic and always smiling!”

Many spoke of Conor’s brilliant character, how he was “a really decent good young lad taken far too soon” and how much of a gentleman he was to all those he encountered.

St Paul’s GFC in Lurgan paid tribute to one of its former players.

“The Committee and members of Naomh Pól CLG An Lorgain deeply regret the death of former player Conor. We wish to offer our deepest sympathy to the entire family circle. Mary Queen of the Gael pray for him. Ar dheis lámh Dé go raibh a anam uasal.”
