Free outdoor family event in Lurgan Park to mark centenary celebration ‘Our Story in Song’

Free outdoor family fun event at Lurgan Park on Saturday September 4, 2021

ABC Council is set to host a free outdoor family-fun event at Lurgan Park to mark 100 years since the creation of Northern Ireland on Saturday September 4.

FREE tickets for the event will go live online at 10am on Wednesday August 11. Festivities will get underway from 5.30pm with an extravagant fireworks finale, specially choreographed to music over Lurgan Lake at 9.30pm.

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough, Alderman Glenn Barr said, “I’m delighted to launch this exciting centenary celebration ‘Our Story in Song’ along with our event hostess U105 radio presenter Denise Watson.

“We have a fantastic line-up of live music, children’s entertainment, vintage car show, food stalls and a fabulous fireworks finale over the lake – which promises to be fun- filled event for the whole family.
“I look forward to welcoming everyone to Lurgan Park to celebrate our people, embrace our place and share our story.”

Tickets will be available online from 10am on Wednesday August 11, at www.ourpeopleourplaceourstory.com and are limited to six per family.

Live music on stage will be compered by Denise Watson includes local group Markethill Fiddle Orchestra, The Songbirds, The Iconettes and Celtic Soul.

Admission for the outdoor event is strictly ticket only. The outdoor event is part of a council organised programme to mark 100 years of Northern Ireland while exploring the history, heritage of the borough over the past century.
