Five people taken to hospital following four-vehicle collision on M1

Six people were injured following a serious multi-vehicle collision on the M1 between Lurgan and Moira on Sunday night.

Five of those were taken to Craigavon Area Hospital.

Police confirmed that they received a report of a four-vehicle road traffic collision between Junction 9 and 10 westbound on the M1 shortly before 5.15pm.

Officers attended, along with colleagues from other emergency services.

While five people were taken to hospital, police have confirmed that none of those injuries are believed to be serious.

The road was closed for some time but has since reopened.

Enquiries remain ongoing, and anyone with information, including dashcam, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1136 of 5/11/23.

A NI Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told Armagh I that four crews attended the scene; two from Lurgan and one each from Lisburn and Dungannon.

Fire crews left the scene at 6.50pm, however, the road was not opened until a few hours afterwards.
