From home-made bedroom sessions posted on Youtube to performing in front of royalty, for one Co Armagh singer-songwriter the last five years really have been a whirlwind.
It all started for Emma Horan back in 2013, at the age of 15, with her battered iPod Touch creating online videos, singing unique ‘mash-up’ style cover versions of her favourite songs.
The Lurgan singer’s cover went viral on Youtube gaining hundreds of thousands of views in the process.
By 16, Emma charted at number three on the iTunes Singer / Songwriter chart – alongside Passenger, Ed Sheeran and Tracy Chapman – with her cover of ‘Little Lion Man’ by Mumford & Sons.
Now 22, she has amassed over three million views across her videos on Facebook and Youtube, as well as over one million streams through the music service Spotify.
The pandemic has not slowed Emma down; if anything she has become more prolific a writer, releasing two tracks – ‘Over You’ and ‘Thinking About You’ – last year.
This following on from a live performance in front of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, during their visit to Northern Ireland back in 2019.
We caught up with Emma to chat about this whirlwind of a year and her early beginnings as her latest song – ‘3 words’- is released tonight!
