Donaghcloney teen accused of a number of sexual offences to face Crown Court

Craigavon Magistrates Court

A Donaghcloney teenager charged with a string of sexual offences is to face the Crown Court in October.

Ben Timmis, 19, of Milltown Road, appeared before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.

He is charged with four counts of sexual activity involving penetration and one count of sexual assault by penetration.

The offences allegedly took place between 2019 and 2021.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.

Satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, Deputy District Judge Kennedy released Timmis on his own bail of £500, to appear for arraignment at Craigavon Crown Court on October 14.
