A “dedicated” young Lurgan footballer has been given a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to represent Northern Ireland in Barcelona next year.
Eight-year-old Jackson Quinn plays for Lurgan Celtic and GAA for St. Paul’s Lurgan. He has a “passion for football” and his hard work and dedication have now resulted in him being selected for the Northern Ireland football team (Under 9’s) to represent them in The Barcelona Experience football tournament.
Expressing his pride, his dad, Declan Quinn said: “This is an amazing achievement and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Jackson to showcase his talent on the international stage.
“His dedication, hard work, and passion for football have earned him this incredible opportunity — and now he has the chance to wear the shirt with pride!”
However, the trip does come with significant costs. To help ensure Jackson is able to enjoy the experience to the fullest, the family are now engaged in a fundraising effort to help cover training expenses, flights, accommodation, and travel costs associated with the tournament.
Added Declan: “We are asking for the support of our community, friends, and local businesses to help make Jackson’s dream a reality.
“Businesses also have the opportunity to sponsor him in a way that places their company or brand logo on his shirt. Every donation, big or small, will make a real difference in helping him represent both Lurgan Celtic and Northern Ireland with pride in Barcelona.
“Jackson’s hard work, sportsmanship, and love for the game truly embody what grassroots football is all about — and with your help, he can take this next big step in his football journey.”
Declan has launched a GoFundMe page to help collate funds with a humble target of just £200 and thanks to the generosity of the local community they have already surpassed their halfway mark.
