A serious road accident involving several cars caused traffic chaos in Co Armagh this morning.
At least three vehicles collided on the Portadown Road into Lurgan.
One eye-witnesses described the scene as “mayhem” with one car perched on top of another close to the junction of the Gilpinstown Road.
Police had closed the road in both directions but have recently declared the road passable.
There were three cars directly involved in the smash with several other vehicles pulled up at the side of the road. It remains unclear at this stage how many of those were involved.
Ambulance crews were treating people at the roadside and staff at a nearby store were also helping out.
The incident happened before 9am.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Diversions on the Portadown Road, Lurgan have been lifted. The road is now passable, however motorists should exercise extreme care when using this road.”
There are no reports of injuries at this stage.
