Co Armagh pensioner’s purse stolen by three males who confronted her in her home

Police issued direct appeal to local people to help catch culprits

A Co Armagh pensioner had her purse stolen after being confronted in her own home by three men this afternoon (Saturday).

And the police are appealing for the public’s help to find the low-lifes who did it.

It happened in the Russell Drive area of Lurgan between 2.30pm and 2.45pm.

The trio confronted the elderly woman before running off with her purse through the rear door.

Police say all three spoke with local accents and were wearing hoodies. One of them had a dark grey hoodie and dark trousers, was of heavy build and was around six feet tall.

The PSNI in Craigavon made a direct appeal to people living in the area via social media.

“Do you live in the area? Did you see three males making off or in the area at that time who match that description? Have you seen a purse discarded? If you do, DON’T touch it, cover it from any rain with a plastic bag or similar and phone us immediately,” they urged.

“Did you see any vehicles in the area that had three males on board you thought looked out of place?

“The reference number is 740 of today, 17/03/18.

“Someone must have seen something. Help us help the most vulnerable in society. Speak out.”
