Alleged child sex offender arrested after online sting

A Donaghcloney man accused of child sex offences after an online sting operation is to face the Crown Court later this year.

Stephen Morrow, from the Drumnabreeze Road, appeared before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with attempting to sexually communicate with a child under 16 and attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity.

The 57-year-old confirmed his identity and that he was aware of the two charges against him, both alleged to have been committed between March 5 and 30, 2023.

The court heard that the charges were a result of an undercover sting operation against a decoy.

A prosecuting lawyer submitted there was a prima facie case against Morrow.

Defence counsel Conor Lunny made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan freed Morrow on bail with the case going before Craigavon Crown Courtfor arraignment on September 4.
