Tributes have been paid to a husband and wife warmly regarded as “giants of faith” following their sad passing just four days apart.
The devoted couple, David and Margaret ‘Lila’ Wilson were both well known and highly respected within their close-knit community of Derryadd.
In the care of Laganvale Care Home – to where they had both retired – David passed away on May 21 followed by his loving wife Margaret on May 25.
While their deaths just days apart is undoubtedly heart-wrenching for their loved ones, some have taken comfort in knowing they are once again reunited in peace.
Touching on this, one person said: “Isn’t this a true love story? Neither have to survive without the other. Hard for their families but they are together.”
A caring and warm-hearted couple, together, they shared a strong Christian faith. It encouraged them to live their lives benevolently, always keeping others in mind.
Of this, one person said: “A beautiful couple. Giants of faith that left a massive impact on many lives. Especially ours. Thank you for praying for our wee baby when she needed it. Will never forget your encouragement to us as a family. Absent from the body, present with the Lord.”
Margaret was regarded by many as a “real lady”, “gentle” and “kind”. She worked for many years in Regal Pharmacy, where she became a familiar friendly face.
Likewise, David was affectionately known as a “gentleman” with a wonderful sense of humour.
Together, they were a “fun-loving couple” who embraced life and all it had to offer.
A death notice described the couple as the beloved parents of Sarah, Christine and Sharon and loving grandparents.
They lived life together and, so too, will depart together. A joint funeral will be held for David and Margaret was held on Tuesday, May 26 at 12 noon at Malcolmsons Funeral Home with burial afterwards in Lurgan Cemetery.
