£2.4 million Co Armagh water mains upgrade works to last until March 2020

Work to focus on 19kms of watermains with first six months spent at Silverwood Estate

Work is due to begin shortly on a £2.4 million upgrade on water supply infrastructure in the Lurgan area.

NI Water says it is currently engaged in an ongoing process of improving and upgrading across Northern Ireland.

A spokesperson said the investment in the wider Lurgan area was “good news for customers”.

She added: “The upgraded water mains will improve the quality, reliability and security of the local water supply, while reducing leakage and improving pressure in the area.”

The work will involve improving approximately 19km of water mains throughout the Lurgan area, initially focusing on the Silverwood Estate for the first six months of the programme.

The overall schedule of work will then progress throughout the wider area until March 2020.

The spokesperson added: “NI Water and our contractor Meridian Utilities would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while we complete this essential programme of work and we will do everything possible to keep any disruption to a minimum.

“Letter drops will be completed as we move in to affected areas to advise residents of this work and traffic management and signage will also be in place as the work progresses.

“Our customer relations team can be contacted via Waterline on 03457 440088. Customers with any questions on the scheme should quote ‘Meridian Utilities Water Mains Rehabilitation Programme’.”
