Charges relating to an alleged incident earlier this year when a male was allegedly assaulted are to be contested.

Joseph Kearney (37) from Tarry Drive, Lurgan is accused of causing the injured party actual bodily harm.

He is also alleged to have stolen cash, clothes and reading glasses from him during the incident on 24 April.

A defence barrister entered not guilty pleas to both matters on his client’s behalf at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court.

District Judge Francis Rafferty remanded Kearney on continuing bail to return to court on June 30 when a contest date will be fixed.
