Lord Mayor anger as disabled bay and parking spaces blocked by police cones

Armagh Lord Mayor Cathy Rafferty has said residents and businesses were left angry after parking spaces along Dobbin Street and Thomas Street, including a disabled bay, were blocked off by police ‘no parking’ cones last week.

“My current understanding is that the situation arose after the police were asked to cordon off parking spaces to facilitate TV vans and crews who were due to film a show from the theatre. A disabled bay, loading bays and parking spaces used by local businesses and motorists were lost and the enquiries made with police about the issue were dismissed.
“I am also led to believe that the spaces cordoned off were not used for parking by the TV Company involved. I have raised the issue with Roads Service. It is imperative that we find a balance that facilitates activities in the complex whilst minimising inconvenience for local businesses and customers.”
