Latest fuel waste dumping ‘disgrace’!

ROGUE operators have once again blighted the roads around South Armagh with yet more diesel waste dumped.

Eight cubes of sludge – the byproduct of illegal fuel laundering – were left at the end of the Tievecrom Road in Forkhill overnight.

Sinn Féin Councillor Anthony Flynn – pictured here with the dumped cubes – has hit out at the culprits and branded it “a disgrace”.

“Those who are responsible for discarding waste must cease,” he told Armagh I. “They are showing blatant disrespect for the people of this area and there have been too many incidents of fuel waste dumping in the last number of months.

“Our community does not want this. The minority behind this are destroying our ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’,whilst giving us a reputation that we do not deserve.

“These cubes have caused an inconvenience for the residents, as they have blocked off part of the Tievecrom Road. Toxic waste also causes harm to our environment and increases the cost of ratepayers’ bills, as the removal of this waste is very expensive.

“Anyone involved in these actions show a total lack of respect for the people of South Armagh. I would appeal for them to stop and consider the effect they are having on both the environment and the residents.”
