Watch: Police investigating after car set on fire by two people in Keady

An investigation has been launched after a car was set on fire in Keady overnight.

Police are probing the suspected arson attack which happened on the Tassagh Road area of the town in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday.

It was reported shortly before 1am that a black Mercedes C220 was set alight by two people.

Officers attended alongside colleagues from the NIFRS who extinguished the fire.

The car is completely destroyed, but thankfully there were no reports of any injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing into this incident, which police are treating as arson, and anyone with information that could help our investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 57 of 05/09/23.

A spokesperson for the NI Fire and Rescue Service said one appliance from Keady attended the incident just before 1am.

They added: “Firefighters were called to a vehicle on fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 1.28am and the cause of the fire is being treated as deliberate ignition at this time.”
