Police detail road closures ahead of St Patrick’s Day parades

Police have released details of road closures ahead of the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Armagh tomorrow (Friday).

Thousands are expected to descend on the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland for the annual parade, which begins from the Palace Demesne from 1.30pm.

Diversions will be in place from around midday until 5pm.

Friary Road, Irish Street, Cathedral Road, Convent Road and the city centre will be affected.

The procession route is from the Palace Demesne, Irish Street, Ogle Street, Thomas Street, Market Street, Market Street and English Street, onto Cathedral Road, past the Shambles Market before finishing at the grounds of Cathedral Road Recreation Centre.

Police are advising motorists to seek alternative routes where possible.

Diversions will also be in place in Keady affecting the main Armagh to Castleblaney route between midday and 2pm.
