Man (33) charged following robberies in Cullyhanna and Keady

Police investigating reports of robberies in Cullyhanna and Keady have charged a 33-year-old man.

He is due to appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday, charged with two counts of robbery, attempted robbery and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent.

The charges relate to robberies in Cullyhanna on October 5 and Keady and Hackballscross on October 11.

It was reported that at approximately 5.10pm on October 5, a man armed with a gun had entered the Post Office in Cullyhanna and threatened staff before leaving empty handed.

And shortly before 7.30pm on October 11, two men wearing balaclavas and armed with a handgun and wheelbrace entered the store on Castleblayney Road in Keady.

A teenage girl was working behind the counter at the time.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
