Keady’s famous Talk of the Town pub could be converted into a funeral home, Armagh I can reveal.

The property, at 37 Kinelowen Street, has been vacant for some time.

In its heydey the watering hole had been one of the ‘go to’ places in Keady and drew a healthy crowd of revellers who have many fond memories.

The pub – which had also traded as ‘The Trap’ – is now subject to a planning application.

Proposals have been drawn up for a change of use to the town centre premises.

The applicant is seeking permission to carry out both internal and external alterations to the property.

And it is intended that it will be brought back into productive use.

But the end use is very different to its past.

The hope is that it will be operated as a funeral home.

The plans are now with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for consideration.

They will be advertised shortly to allow the public the chance to have their say during the statutory two-week consultation, with a decision to follow in due course.
