Keady schoolgirl Sabrina celebrating as she wins national calendar art competition

It has been described as 'a stand-out work where she plays with perspective and proportion and blends an almost literal diary note with images and impressions of life as a young person today'

A County Armagh schoolgirl is celebrating after winning a national art competition.

Twelve-year-old Sabrina Morgan, from St Patrick’s High School, Keady, created a fantastic piece and stunned judges with her brilliant brushwork.

And now Sabrina’s piece has been chosen to illustrate the 2024 Texaco Children’s Art Competition Calendar just published.

One of 13 artworks selected to illustrate the publication, her piece, entitled ‘Burnt Out’, will appear during the month of January and will be seen in thousands of homes throughout Ireland during the coming year.

Winning first prize in the 12-13 years age category of this year’s 69th competition, Sabrina’s artwork was praised by Final Adjudicator, Professor Gary Granville.

He described it as “a stand-out work where she plays with perspective and proportion and blends an almost literal diary note with images and impressions of life as a young person today”.

Well done, Sabrina!
