Sentimental items from the graves of three children in a Keady cemetery have been removed in incidents described as “heartbreaking” for the families.
It’s not the first time children’s final resting places have been targeted in the graveyard opposite St Patrick’s Church in the town.
SDLP councillor, Thomas O’Hanlon, said he, like many others, have been left aghast at thefts.
“For some reason someone is removing items from graves in the Graveyard in Keady,” he explained. “They have even stooped so low as to remove items, including stones from a baby’s grave. Words fail me.
“This is not the first time this has happened and it’s not the first time this particular grave has been targeted in this way. A mummy is heartbroken.
“For what ever reason this is happening I would appeal for it to stop. If anyone knows or seen anything happening please encourage those behind this to stop. Feel free to contact me if you have any information on who or why this is happening. This must stop. A grave is a place of rest, remembrance and respect. Please stop.”
