Crown Court for man accused of causing GBI by dangerous driving in Tassagh

A man is to appear before Newry Crown Court later this year accused of causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving following an alleged incident outside Keady last November.

Gavin McGivney, 31, of Cormoy, Carrickmacross, faces seven charges in total.

These include causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention, common assault, failing to stop where an accident occurred causing injury, failing to report an injury accident, failing to remain at the scene, and obscuring number plates.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on Dundrum Road, Tassagh, on November 9, 2024.

During a preliminary enquiry at Newry Magistrates’ Court, the Public Prosecution Service submitted there was a prima facie case to answer. The defence made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Eamon King said he was satisfied a prima facie case had been established.

The matter was adjourned to Newry Crown Court for arraignment on October 16.

McGivney was released on bail until that date.
