The appearance of strange markings on homes belonging to dog owners in Darkley has led to calls for vigilance.
Sinn Fein Councillor Bronagh Haughey said a number of properties had been singled out over the past number of days.
She added: “These markings have appeared overnight and are similar to others reported over recent months that have been linked with dog thefts.
“I would ask the wider Darkley community to remain vigilant and to keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles.
“Keep your beloved animals indoors and make sure to report it to the police.”
