A profound sadness has befallen the wider Keady community once more following the untimely passing of a young mother-of-three.

Majella Hughes, who lived in Corran with her husband, Paddy, and three children Francie, Anna and Lucy, passed away suddenly on Tuesday.

As well as being a devoted mother, she was a loving daughter to Frank and Beatrice; and a cherished sister to Paul, Seamus, Peter, Gareth, Noel, Lisa and the late Stephen RIP.

The news of Majella’s passing has brought about waves of tributes to a woman described by many as “a wonderful person”.

Former Armagh lord Mayor – and neighbour to the Hughes family, Sharon Haughey Grimley described Majella as “an absolutely beautiful person, so kind, gentle, thoughtful and loved her family with all her heart”.

She added: “Our community has lost a real gem and we are utterly heartbroken but our thoughts and prayers are very much with Paddy, Francie, Anna and Lucy, her parents, her brothers and sister Lisa and the entire King and Hughes families. God bless them all. May Majella’s gentle soul rest in peace.”

SDLP Councillor, Thomas O’Hanlon, said: “Majella was a beautiful person, inside and out. No words can, or will, comfort her heartbroken family. Sometimes we just can’t understand why God takes the best home to himself.

“Our community’s thoughts and prayers are with Paddy, Francie, Anna and Lucy in these very tough days. We’re also thinking of the King and Hughes families both now and in the time ahead.

“Wherever you are tonight, give your mummy, your daughters or sister a hug, tell her you love her and how important she is in your life, that she’s irreplaceable… for we do not know what tomorrow brings.”

The Cancer Fund for Children Armagh Support Group also paid tribute.

“Majella was daughter of our long time supporters Frank and Beatrice King, and sister of Lisa from Kings Baby Shop, Keady.

“Majella herself helped the Armagh Support Group in many ways including climbing Slieve Donard to help raise funds.”

Funeral details have yet to be released. All enquiries to Mone Funeral Directors, Keady.

May Majella Rest in Peace.
