A 10 month prison sentence was handed down to a man who pleaded guilty to having sex with the family dog.
The 43-year-old was sentenced at Newry Crown Court today (Thursday) and Judge Kevin Finnegan ordered he spent two years under supervised licence conditions upon his release.
The defendant, who the court heard was addicted to child pornography, had sex with the dog and fantasised about his own children.
Last month Gareth Michael Williams pleaded guilty to having sex with an animal and distributing indecent images of children when he appeared before the same court.
The defendant, previously resident in the Ballyroney area of Banbridge and with a most recent address at Portstewart, was remanded in custody after he replied “guilty” to two charges of bestiality, on an unknown date between February 1, 2009 and April 4, 2014.
Gareth Michael Williams is originally from South Africa but was living in Co Down when the offences were committed.
The defendant, appearing in the dock at Newry Crown Court last month, also pleaded guilty to a string of child pornography related offences.
These involved 10 counts of distributing indecent images and 17 of possessing or making indecent images of children.
Two additional charges of possessing extreme pornography were also admitted by Williams, with all charges alleged to have taken place on dates between October 10, 2011 and April 4 last year.
