SINN FÉIN MLA Cathal Boylan has welcomed the announcement by Education Minister John O’Dowd this morning in the Assembly that the expansion of Middletown Centre for Autism is to proceed in April.
John O’Dowd’s joint statement with the Minister for Social Development came after the most recent North South Ministerial Council meeting regarding education.
The MLA for Newry & Armagh said: “The expansion of services at the Middletown Centre for Autism will allow an additional 80 children to receive direct support from the centre.
“This is welcome news and an example of what is possible by North South co-operation. The refurbishment work and the additional staff will see more children with complex autism receive additional support they need.”
