‘Exceptionally firm’ trade at Newtown

CATTLE trade was exceptionally firm at Newtownhamilton on Saturday, July 20.

HEIFERS

Forward heifers sold to £209 for 540k at £1130.  Good quality middleweights sold steadily from £175 to £199 for 400k at £795.  Lightweight heifers sold in a very strong demand from £200 to £246 for 260k at £640 followed by £232 for 310k at £720.

Lightweight bullocks sold to £227 for 340k Saler at £770.  Middleweights to £201 for 460k at £925.  Main demand from £180 to £200 per 100 kilos.  Angus bred bullocks sold from £170 to £181 for 390k at £705.

Sucklers sold to £1200 for a whitehead cow and heifer calf.  Several more outfits from £750 to £880 each.
