Woman passes away in hospital following Monday night house fire

A woman has died following a house fire outside Dungannon on Monday night.

The woman, in her 50s, passed away in hospital following the blaze on the Annaghbeg Road – near Tamnamore roundabout – shortly after 10.20pm.

The bungalow was completely gutted as a result.

Police said an officer assisted with administering First Aid after the woman, who was the only person in the house at the time, had been removed from the property.

She was taken to hospital but unfortunately passed away from her injuries.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Inspector Stickland said: ““Our enquiries into what occurred continue and anyone with information is asked to call us on 101, and quote reference number 1944 of 19/10/20.”

“A report can also be made using the online reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport.

“Alternatively, information can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.”

A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters worked through the night to extinguish the fire, using jets and a water tower. The incident was under control by 4.29am and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”
