A hugely-popular Co Tyrone restaurant has appealed for a group of diners to come forward after they left without paying a £365 bill.
Viscounts Restaurant in Dungannon took to social media following the incident, which happened on Sunday evening, April 19.
In the post, the restaurant said that a party of six had walked out without settling their bill, which came to £365. Staff suggested it was “probably a genuine mistake” and expressed hope that those involved would get in touch to pay what is owed.
“As with every business at the moment it’s tough!!” the post began, reflecting the multitude of pressures facing the hospitality industry.
“Many thanks to a party of six on Sunday 19th who walked out without paying. A £365.00 bill – probably a genuine mistake and they will call and pay. CCTV is a wonderful thing,” the post continued.
The incident comes at a time when local restaurants and hospitality businesses are grappling with rising costs, staffing pressures and tighter margins. Unpaid bills of this size can have a noticeable impact on independent venues.
Viscounts, while not releasing the CCTV footage – or passing over to police – at this point, issued their appeal as an opportunity for the customers to rectify the situation.
Anyone who believes they may be part of the group, or who has information, is encouraged to contact the restaurant directly.
