A Dungannon man has been accused of being over the drink driving limit as a learner driver.

The court heard that 51-year-old Stasys Palsys – with an address in Woodvale Park – was listed to appear before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court last week to be connected to the charges but did not appear as he “had a fever”.

Palsys was connected in his absence and the charge sheet had been shortened, with a charge of dangerous driving withdrawn.

The defendant appeared in the dock to confirm his name and date of birth with the help of a Lithuanian interpreter.

He is accused of having driven a car in the vicinity of John Street, Dungannon on April 24, 2026 drove without being under the supervision of a qualified driver, being uninsured to drive the car and being over the drink driving limit.

Defence counsel indicated they had not yet received the tendered evidence in the case and asked for it to be taken for two weeks’s time.

District Judge Rafferty agreed to adjourn the case until September 4 for attitude.
