Three people have been arrested after the latest incident of vandalism at the cenotaph at Moy.
The incident happened last night (Saturday) and police were quickly into action.
The trio were caught red-handed as they threw wreaths about, causing damage to them.
All three – who aged 20 and one 19-yer-old – were arrested on suspicion of attempted criminal damage and criminal damage. One is also alleged to have resisted police.
This is the latest in a line of incidents of vandalism to the Moy war memorial in recent times, actions which have led to meetings at local level to try and find a solution.
A PSNI spokesperson, speaking after this latest episodoe, said: “Following an immediate response from ourselves these three have been arrested and are currently in custody.
“If you witnessed this incident, which occurred at approximately 1.20am on 12th June 2022, please contact Police on 101 quoting incident number 137 of 12/06/22.”
Local DUP Councillor Clement Cuthbertson described it as a “welcomed response from the PSNI in regards to the hate campaign against Moy war memorial”.
