Sudden death of valued Caledon Classroom Assistant leaves community ‘heartbroken’

'There will be a huge void, never to be filled.'

Hundreds of tributes have been paid following the sudden death of a popular Dungannon woman.

The tragic death of Donna Webb yesterday (April 16) has left the entire community heartbroken and in a state of utter disbelief.

Donna was deeply ingrained in the fabric of her community and was known as a respected and valued employee and friend at Churchill Primary School in Caledon where she had worked as a Classroom Assistant for the last two years.

Sharing the news of their immeasurable loss, Churchill Primary School said: “There are no words… The Churchill community are heartbroken by the sudden news of Donna’s passing.

“A friend and colleague at Churchill since September 2023. Thoughts and prayers are with Donna’s fiancé and family.”

Said Primary 7 Teacher and Principal Mrs Cartmill: “The entire Churchill Primary School community are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of a dear friend and colleague.

“There will be a huge void, never to be filled.

“Donna was a hardworking and committed member of the team who got on with everyone. The staff, governors, pupils and parents send love and prayers to Donna’s fiancé and family.”

Another person described her as “always fully involved and ready to support staff and children”.

The popular Classroom Assistant had also spent several years employed at Bush Primary School and Nursery Unit in Dungannon where she is also “fondly remembered”.

Outside of the classroom, Donna was regarded as a “lovely girl” who “always had a smile on her face”.

Many speak of their “privilege” in getting to know her.

Describing their shock, one person said: “Very hard to take in, Donna had a heart of gold, no words will ever help her family right now… they are very much in my thoughts and prayers.”

A death notice describes Donna as the precious daughter of James and Sharon, loving fiancé of James and grand daughter of Sean and Nancy Kerr.

Her funeral details are to be announced at a later date.

Donations can be made in Donna’s memory to Air Ambulance and St Anne’s Parish Dungannon.
