M1 outside Dungannon closed for testing following fatal collisions

Motorists are being advised that a section of the M1 will be closed until midday to allow for tests following two fatal collisions.

The M1 outside Dungannon between junctions 14 and 15, Belfast bound, is currently closed today, Sunday June, until 12pm, the PSNI have confirmed.

Police, alongside partner agencies, are conducting further testing regarding fatal road traffic collisions.

Philip Rainey, 21, died following a crash on the M1 eastbound near Stangmore in Dungannon in September while he was on the way to collect his partner and new baby son from hospital.

And on Boxing Day last, 40-year-old Imelda Quinn died when as she travelled to Craigavon hospital where she worked as a nurse. The single vehicle collision took place between Junction 14 and 15 on the M1 eastbound.
