A haulage firm has been fined £9,000 tachograph and drivers’ hour offences after a lorry was stopped in Dungannon.

Barony Services Ltd, with an address on Devesky Road, Sixmilecross, in Co Tyrone, was fined £1,000 for each of nine offences at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

On May 29, 2024, a heavy goods vehicle owned and operated by the company was stopped by Driver and Vehicle Agency enforcement officers on the A45 Granville Road, Dungannon.

On examination of the vehicle’s digital tachograph, it was established that the company had failed to download the driver’s digital card within the 28-day legally permissible interval.

The vehicle’s tachograph calibration had also expired, and the company was found to have caused or permitted the vehicle to be driven on seven occasions without the use of a driver’s card.

The court also ordered Barony Services Ltd to pay an offender levy of £15.

According to Companies House there is an active proposal to strike the company off with accounts overdue by almost eight months.
