Motorists have been urged to exercise caution on the Rehaghey Road near Caledon after an electric pole became dislodged, falling dangerously close to the roadway.
Councillor Frances Burton took to social media to warn the public of the obstruction, explaining: “Danger on the Rehaghey Road, on the left hand side of road, if you’re travelling towards Hollands Crossroads from the junction of the Caledon/Eglish Road (Jordon’s).
“Someone has taken the electric pole partly down. The wire is dangerously low, and the pole is partly protruding onto the road. Drive with care.”
The cause of the damage to the pole remains unknown but it appears a vehicle may have left the road and swerved into the hedge where there is also a visible amount of damage.
Police in Tyrone received a report that an electricity pole had been damaged and was causing an obstruction in the Rehaghy Road area of Dungannon on Wednesday August 27, at approximately 9:45am.
Enquiries are on-going at this time and anyone with information is encouraged to contact officers on 101 quoting reference 401 of 27/08/25.
It’s unknown when the pole will be repaired at this time. The Department for Infrastructure have been contacted for comment.
