Residents in Dungannon have been urged to be “vigilant” following a report of a theft from a vehicle.
The incident occurred in the Bovean Road area on Wednesday, October 8.
Police in Dungannon confirmed it was reported to them that entry was gained to a van, which was parked at a house in the area, sometime around 2am on Wednesday morning, when a sum of money was taken.
Sharing CCTV footage relating to the incident on social media, one resident urged those in the community to be vigilant, saying: “Major concern needs raised… see video from Wednesday morning at 2.07am [which was attached to the original post].
“We have CCTV now of another male, earlier at a nearby property.
“Please can everyone with CCTV between Bovean, Killyman, Tamnamore, can you please check your cameras on Wednesday early morning between 1.30am and 2.30am.
“Reports of multiple thefts in surrounding areas makes us believe they are trying to see what’s around before acting.”
DUP Cllr Clement Cuthbertson added to the advice: “Please be vigilant, especially now on the run up to Christmas as theft always increases this time of year. Keep a look out also for vulnerable neighbours.”
Officers would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, or who may have captured dash-cam or CCTV footage which could help with their investigation, to call them at Dungannon on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number CW 336 08/10/25.
A report can be submitted online using the non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or you can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/.
