Four men arrested in connection with the shooting of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell have been released without charge.
However, detectives have been granted more time to question a 47-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation.
A court in Belfast has granted an extension to the detention of the suspect until 10pm on Thursday, March 2.
Earlier a court granted an extension to the detention of a 71-year-old man until 10pm on Wednesday, March 1.
Both men remain in custody in the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station.
The four other men arrested and released were aged 22, 38, 43 and 45. The investigation continues.
So far around 12 searches have been carried out by the PSNI in Omagh and Coalisland.
The New IRA has admitted responsibility for the attempted murder of DCI Caldwell in Omagh last Wednesday.
A car used by the gunmen who tried to kill the senior detective was seen on camera in the Ardoyne area of Belfast before it was driven to Coalisland.

Two gunmen, who were dressed in dark clothing, carried out this attack and left the scene on foot. At least two other vehicles were struck by their volley of shots. Police believe the gunmen fled the scene in a small, dark coloured vehicle shortly after 8pm. They believe this vehicle was abandoned and set on fire in Racolpa Road in Omagh.
