‘A day I will never forget’ for Moy hairdresser who worked backstage at London Fashion Week

Lorraine Quinn Moy

A Moy hairdresser says the experience she had working backstage at Vogue World, which opened the 2023 London Fashion Week, will be “a day I will never forget”.

Lorraine Quinn is just back from working backstage at the prestigious event – and the only Irish representative to have been given the opportunity to mix it with the who’s who of the hair and fashion world.

For 2023, Vogue enlisted the BAFTA and Oliver-winning director Stephen Daldry (of The Crown and Billy Elliot fame) to creatively oversee a theatrical celebration of the very best of British culture and fashion.

Kicking off London Fashion week, the one-of-a-kind show, masterminded by an international Vogue team headed up by Anna Wintour and Edward Ennisful, inspired by an opening night in the West End, and featured performances from leading lights of opera, theatre, and film, as well as classical and pop music.

The grand Finale? A runway extravaganza showcasing highlights from the autumn/winter 2023 collections.

Vogue World London 2023 took over Theatre Royal Drury Lane on September 14, featuring supermodels Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Adowa Aboah, Ashley Graham and Paloma Elesser, who joined Sophie Okonedo, Stormzy, Sienna Miller and Ian keller on stage on the night.

Lorraine was given the opportunity to audition for her place to work alongside the session stylist master, Eugene Souleiman, by Bumble and Bumble – a product partner of Surgery Hairdressing in Moy.

The audition process saw Lorraine send off her portfolio of work, which included, most recently runway hair at Christopher Kane Autumn/Winter 23. She was selected as the only representative from Ireland for Bumble and Bumble and joined a team of 40+ session stylists.

A beaming Lorraine said: “In my 30-plus years in the hairdressing industry, being part of the backstage team at Vogue World has been one of my all-time career highlights.

“Not only did I get to work with amazing people, but to top it off I got to see the dress rehearsal up close, and truly appreciate fashion and the arts at its finest. A day I will never forget!”
