Cyclist dies after collision with lorry near Newry

A man in his 30s has died after a two vehicle road traffic collision near Newry last night, Thursday, police have confirmed.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm on the A1 northbound carriageway.

The collision involved a cyclist and a lorry.

The cyclist was taken to hospital but died from his injuries a short time later.

The road has now reopened.

Sgt Lawrence Spier, of the Collision Investigation Unit, appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact the non-emergency number on 101.
