Shock after gunshots fired through bedroom window of south Armagh home

Residents in a small south Armagh village were left in shock after gunshots were fired through the bedroom window of a house earlier this week.

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after the shooting incident, which took place in the Trainor Crescent, area of Creggan – outside Crossmaglen – on Wednesday night.

Detective Constable Sands said: “Police received a report at approximately 11.30pm that two gunshots had been fired through a bedroom window at the rear of the property. Thankfully no-one was injured or hurt.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we are appealing for witnesses or those who may have CCTV or dash cam footage to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1779 05/01/22.”

Sinn Féin Councillor, Barra Ó Muirí has said that local people are shocked following the appalling incident.

The Slieve Gullion Councillor commented: “There is absolutely no place in our community for these type of acts or for those involved in these deplorable activities.

“The police are currently looking into this incident and I encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
