A special night to “honour and celebrate” an inspirational Crossmaglen man who died following a courageous cancer battle will be held this month.
The event will be held in remembrance of Crossmaglen GAA player, Caolan Finnegan, who passed away on August 23, 2024.
Affectionately known as Stringer, the 20-year-old fought hard against a brain cancer for a period of 12 months.
His courage and strength touched the hearts of those from all walks of life, right across the country. Many thousands of pounds were raised in a phenomenal effort from the community to help support Caolan’s battle.
On the evening of November 28, an emotional memorial event will take place in Lacey’s Suite at the Carrickdale Hotel, with GAA legend and family friend, Oisin McConville set to host.
One and all are invited to join the Finnegan family as they come together to “honour the memory of Caolan and celebrate all he achieved in his short but remarkable life”.
KG Music will provide a special performance in tribute to Caolan with an abundance of memories to be shared throughout the course of the night.
A raffle with spot prizes and an auction will also be held on the night to the benefit of a worthy local charity.
The remainder of funds generously donated by the community through ‘Care for Caolan’ – a fundraiser launched to support his battle with cancer – will also be distributed between various charities whose representatives will be in attendance.
Doors will open at 6.30pm with the event to start at 7pm.
Said Caolan’s family: “This is more than an event, it’s a celebration of Caolan’s life, his legacy and the lasting impact he left on everyone who knew him. We look forward to seeing you all.”
Tickets are available by contacting members of the Finnegan family directly through social media.
